Panels

Fentanyl Drug Test

Fentanyl and its analogs now appear across the drug supply, yet the standard 10-panel does not test for it. LabX confirms fentanyl and norfentanyl by LC-MS/MS so safety-sensitive programs are not blind to the drug driving overdose statistics.

Why fentanyl needs its own test

Fentanyl is structurally different from the opiates on a basic panel, so a 10-panel opiate screen will not flag it. You need fentanyl explicitly — included in our 14-panel or added to any custom order.

Who should test for fentanyl

Transportation, construction, healthcare, and any post-accident program. Fentanyl positivity is markedly higher in random and post-accident testing than at pre-employment.

How is fentanyl confirmed?
By LC-MS/MS, reporting fentanyl and its metabolite norfentanyl for a definitive result.
