Employer Drug Testing

Run workplace drug screening without the clinic trip. LabX delivers an observed, lab-supervised 10-panel collection your employee completes from home via TeleTest — $85 for a 10-panel, $105 for a 14-panel, results in 24–48 hours, with definitive LC-MS/MS confirmation on any non-negative result.

How much you save

LabX is $85 all-in for an observed 10-panel screen — collection, result, and secure reporting, with optional confirmation. Here is how that compares with what national labs publicly list for a self-ordered or workplace screen:

10-panel drug screenTypical price
LabX — observed at-home, all-in$85
Labcorp OnDemand — self-order (6-panel $109 / 11-panel $169)$109–$169
LabCorp 10-panel (typical published range)$100–$150
National occupational providers — plus collection-site & MRO fees+$5–$15+

On top of the base price, most national providers add a collection-site visit and, for workplace testing, Medical Review Officer fees. LabX bundles observed remote collection into the $85 — no separate site trip — with 24–48h results and optional $25 per positive LC-MS/MS confirmation.

Comparison figures are publicly listed self-order / retail prices as of early 2026 (Labcorp OnDemand list prices; published LabCorp 10-panel ranges) and vary by location, contract, panel and any volume agreement. Shown for general comparison — not a guarantee of savings in every case.

Screening flags whether a drug class may be present; definitive LC-MS/MS confirmation then identifies and quantifies the specific substance — so a non-negative result is verified, not assumed. Observed collection supports specimen validity and chain of custody. The laboratory reports accurate, defensible results; how those results are used in employment decisions, and any determination of fitness for duty, rests with the employer and its own policies and advisors.

Common questions

How fast are employer drug testing results?
Screening results are typically reported to your account within 24–48 hours of the specimen reaching the lab. If a result is confirmed by definitive LC-MS/MS, confirmation adds additional time.
What's the difference between a 10-panel and a 14-panel drug test?
The 10-panel covers the common workplace drug classes — amphetamines, cocaine, opiates, PCP, marijuana (THC), benzodiazepines, barbiturates, methadone, propoxyphene and synthetic/semi-synthetic opioids. The 14-panel adds further substances of interest for higher-risk or safety-sensitive roles, at $105 versus $85 (+$20).
What does a supervised (observed) collection mean?
The employee books a remote collection through a scheduling link and QR code, and a trained observer guides and monitors the collection by video. The specimen is collected under supervision — supporting specimen validity and chain of custody much like an in-lab collection would.
Do employees have to go to a collection site?
No. Collection is completed from home through LabX TeleTest. The employee receives a scheduling link, books a time, and completes an observed collection over video — no clinic visit required.
How do confirmations work, and what do they cost?
When you enable confirmations on your account, any non-negative screen is automatically confirmed by definitive LC-MS/MS at $25 per positive drug. Confirmation identifies and quantifies the specific substance rather than just the drug class.
How is employer drug testing billed?
You can buy prepaid kit bundles in advance and save $5 per kit, or run pay-as-you-go with a card on file that is billed as you order screens. Kit inventory is tracked in your employer account either way.
Can I test for reasonable suspicion or after an accident, not just at hire?
Yes. Because collection is remote and observed, you can order pre-employment, random, post-accident or reasonable-suspicion screens the same way — assign a screen from your account and the employee receives a scheduling link. How and when you test is governed by your own workplace policy.
Is LabX a certified laboratory?
Yes. LabX Diagnostic Systems is a CLIA-certified (CLIA #10D2067145), COLA-accredited clinical and toxicology laboratory in Tampa, FL, with a board-certified physician Laboratory Director and audit-ready quality control on every specimen.
