DOT-regulated employers must test to the federal 49 CFR Part 40 standard — a specific 5-panel with strict chain of custody and Medical Review Officer (MRO) review. LabX runs DOT-compliant collection and confirmation so your drivers and safety-sensitive employees stay compliant.
What the DOT 5-panel covers
The DOT panel is federally defined: Marijuana (THC), Cocaine, Amphetamines/Methamphetamine, Opioids (including codeine, morphine, hydrocodone, hydromorphone, oxycodone, oxymorphone), and Phencyclidine (PCP). Since 2018 the opioid group includes the semi-synthetics.
Chain of custody & MRO review
Every DOT test uses a Federal Custody and Control Form, LC-MS/MS confirmation of non-negatives, and independent MRO verification before a result is released. This is what makes a DOT result stand up to a challenge.
Non-DOT vs. DOT
If you are not federally regulated, a 10-panel or 14-panel gives you broader coverage and more flexibility. Read DOT vs non-DOT drug testing for the full comparison.
